What is an original?

An original is a file that contains the graphic elements necessary for printing. It can contain different types of image: a photograph, a vector logo, a drawing, etc. It does not matter if it was created directly on digital media or if it was done manually and scanned afterwards. The important thing is that the file is of the necessary quality to obtain a good impression either on textile or on any type of support.

The shipping methods to send us originals in good resolution are various. You can send us the files by email or platforms such as wetransfer and dropbox, or by USB in our personalized clothing store in Washington DC, customization store in Florida or clothing store in Argentona.

We say that a good original always produces a good print. The quality of your originals is essential in the stamping process and that is why at Cheap Wholesales we have prepared some basic tips to ensure the best results. ;)

How to send originals for screen printing?

Screen printing is a technique designed especially for flat colors. Gradients can be made if we screen the inks, but since the advent of DTG machines, it is used especially in very large runs. Designs must be conceived in this sense, simplifying as much as possible and avoiding gradients and photographs.

If you work in pixel, with programs like photoshop, make sure to work from the beginning at real print size at 300 pixels per inch (or dpi)

If you work in vector, the ideal is to work at real print size and that the thinnest lines have a width of 1pt (which is the width that comes by default in Illustrator). Lines with a thinner width have the risk of not appearing at all in the final result. Note: 1pt is NOT the same as a pixel.

línea Illustrator

Tip: Screen printing is printed with ink, on a fabric. It will never have the same level of detail as a print on paper, and even less when compared to an image on screen. Keep in mind that very small details tend to fill up or disappear. It is better to put the important elements of your designs large enough to be visible / legible. Also consider that a T-shirt is generally viewed from a distance of 1m or 2m: although all the small details appear in the printing, from this distance it is difficult for them to be distinguished or read.

Recommended formats:

  • Designs in vector format with all traced / outlined fonts: PDF, Illustrator or EPS.
  • Or in real size printing in high resolution at 300 dpi: JPG, TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD.

How to send originals for DTG digital printing?

DTG

DTG digital printing allows you to stamp designs with gradients and photographs, so there is no need to simplify the designs to stamp. For an optimal result on colored t-shirts, the ideal is that you pass us the originals with the transparent background. We can remove the backgrounds from your originals, but it can be an added cost to the stamping if it is too complicated for our designers.

If you work in Photoshop, you have to start working at actual print size, at 300 dpi resolution on an empty layer.

  • Or in real size printing in high resolution at 300 dpi: JPG (this format only for white garments, since it does not accept transparencies), TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD and it can be with a transparent background.

How to send originals for embroidery?

For embroidery, you have to make a pick, that is, you have to redraw the images that you send us. Take into account that for an embroidery it is "drawn" with thread on fabric. The level of detail is much less than that of a print or a screen. Smaller lettering and details will likely have to be reinterpreted, always keeping designs in mind. Before confirming your order, we will send you an embroidery simulation so that you can see what your embroidery will look like.

Recommended formats for weddings:

  • Designs in vector format with all traced / outlined fonts: PDF, Illustrator or EPS.
  • Or in real size printing in high resolution at 300 dpi: JPG, TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD.

How to send vinyl originals?

vinilo

Vinyl allows you to print designs with gradients and photographs, so it is not necessary to simplify the designs to be printed. There are two main types. Printables, which are printed and cut, and color, which are only cut.

In the case of printing vinyls, we print with ink on a smooth surface which is then cut out and transferred onto the garment. The level of printed detail is higher than DTG and screen printing. Still, it is smaller than a screen, so it is better if important details are large enough to be visible / legible. Removing excess vinyl is a manual process that prevents cut detail from being too high.

It is an ideal technique to personalize garments with names. If it is for a unique design, screen printing may be a more adapted technique.

Recommended formats for printing vinyls:

  • Designs in vector format with all traced / outlined fonts: PDF, Illustrator or EPS.
  • Or in real size printing in high resolution at 300 dpi: JPG, TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD.
  • Always in CMYK.

Recommended formats for cutting vinyls:

  • Designs in vector format with all traced / outlined fonts: PDF, Illustrator or EPS.

How to send originals for full print?

The full print is done on 100% polyester garments only. It is a large format sublimation. The level of detail is superior to that of DTG and screen printing. Still, it is smaller than that of a computer screen, so it is better if important details are large enough to be visible / legible.

In the full print made, we first print the fabric, cut it and make the garments. It is a meticulous process that allows the patterns to be perfect throughout the garment.

Recommended formats for ready-made full print:

  • Designs in vector format with all traced / outlined fonts: PDF, Illustrator or EPS.
  • Or each element of the fullprint in real size printing in high resolution at 300 dpi: JPG, TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD.
  • You can also assemble your designs yourself on our templates available here . In this case, the final file must be vector (PDF or Illustrator) with all fonts traced / outlined. If the design includes pixel elements, make sure they are in real print size at 300 dpi and that you have embedded them in your document.

How to send originals for copitrans and sublimation?

Copitrans and sublimation are techniques designed to print on white or very light garments only: they are transparent inks, without white ink, so that the white color does not come out in colored garments, and also the tones of the inks are mixed with the color of the garment.

copitrans i sublimación

Sublimation is for polyester garments, and copitrans is for 100% cotton garments.

In both cases, we print in ink on a smooth surface which is then cut out and transferred onto the garment. The level of detail is superior to that of DTG and screen printing. Still, it is smaller than a screen, so it is best if important details are large enough to be visible / legible.

Recommended formats for copitrans and sublimation:

  • Designs in vector format with all traced / outlined fonts: PDF, Illustrator or EPS.
  • Or in real size printing in high resolution at 300 dpi: JPG, TIFF, PNG, PDF or PSD.

Attention : programs like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc ... are not made specifically for graphic works and tend to produce errors in font sizes and fonts. We strongly discourage formats such as PPT, DOC, XLS.
